Theresa Clowes has been exploring the properties of textiles for more than 20 years. She holds a B.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute and an M.F.A from Cranbrook Academy of Art. In addition to being a professional artist, she is also an experienced teacher. Theresa was a Senior Instructor at Colorado Academy for 10 years and is now an Adjunct Professor at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Theresa believes that being an artist does not stray far from being a teacher; they both come from the heart and soul. Her artwork incorporates juxtapositions: textiles and architecture, ephemeral fabric and discarded objects, translucency and opaqueness. Patterns created by light and shadow come alive within these opposites. For a moment, she enables viewers to slow down, observe, and contemplate the calming rhythms and repeated patterns found in nature. Capturing frozen moments, her work emphasizes the natural beauty of a single leaf, rock, or stick. Her work has been exhibited locally at Vertigo Art Space and Edge Gallery and nationally in Kansas City, Detroit, Houston, Aspen, and Portland, Oregon
