Can you believe it’s December already? 2023 has been a fabulous year for RedLine:

We still have a few exciting art events at RedLine to wrap up the year. On Saturday, December 9th, don’t miss the final exhibition opening of 2023 for ambits: The Green Fellowship Exhibition. From 6-9pm at RedLine, celebrate the work of the first three fellows: Chelsea Kaiah, Laura Shill, and Max Maddox.

Tony Ortega - Portrait Galley Group Show

When: November 17–December 30, 2023

About the exhibition: Inspired directly by portrait galleries in prominent art institutions around the world, this salon-style hang is meant to engulf the viewer in a sea of portraiture. Perhaps a single gaze will catch your eye or maybe an abstracted work will bring you in; regardless of where you find yourself in the gallery, a connection is waiting to be established between viewer and subject. 

About the artist: Tony Ortega is a Denver-based visual artist and educator. His work has been exhibited in over 30 solo shows and featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, CO, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Colorado Spring Fine Art Center, Harwood Museum, Taos NM, RedLine Contemporary Art Center, Denver and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque, NM. His work is in the collections of the Denver Art Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Blanton Art Museum, Austin, TX, and the Museo Estudio Diego Rivera, Mexico City.

Christine Nguyen - INTERDEPENDENCE Group Show

What: Group exhibition
Where: See Saw Gallery - 5 W Radcliff Ave Englewood CO 80110
When: November 4, 2023 - January 8, 2024

About the exhibition: Working across a variety of media and disciplinary perspectives, the artists explore INTERDEPENDENCE as a state of becoming, examining the body, nature, the cosmos, and memory patterns – tugging at the complex web of interconnections, power dynamics, and mutual resilience that shape our lives and the world around us. Artist: Mila Rossi, Sophie Hill, Clarissa Fortier, Christine Nguyen, Rochelle Johnson, Savanna LaBauve.

About the artist: Christine Nguyen was born and raised in California and currently resides in Aurora, Colorado and also works in Long Beach, California. She is a lover of animals, plants, and nature. She received her B.F.A from California State University, Long Beach and M.F.A from University of California, Irvine.

Shaping Gravity: Abstract Art Beyond the Picture Plane Group Show

What: Group exhibition
Where: Forest Lawn Museum, 1712 S. Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA, 91205
When: October 19, 2023 - March 10, 2024

About the exhibition: Forest Lawn Museum is excited to announce “Shaping Gravity: Abstract Art Beyond the Picture Plane” features the work of seven contemporary artists: Jen Stark, Molly Larkey, Shane Guffogg, Michelle Jane Lee, Christine Nguyen, Rema Ghuloum, and Sarah Ippolito. The exhibition explores various approaches to abstraction through painting, augmented reality, interactive video projection, and sculpture.

Cosmic Love Poems Solo Show

What: Solo exhibition
Where: BRDG Project - 3300 Tejon St, Denver, CO, 80211
When: December 8, 2023 - January 7, 2024
Opening Reception: Friday, December 8

About the exhibition: A collection of paintings, drawings and ceramics.
Made from pigment particles, the paintings are of auras of plants while the drawings on layered mylar are from an imagined cosmic spiritual realm. Hand built ceramics are artifacts that are akin to all things from the sea and earth, fossils, diatoms, ancient relics and vessels that are conduits to the terrestrial with the celestial.

Eileen Roscina - MFA Thesis Exhibition Duo Exhibition

Where: University of Colorado Art Museum – 1085 18th St, Boulder, CO, 80309
When: December 1 - December 14, 2023
Opening Reception: Friday, December 1, 2023

About the exhibition: Roscina’s multimedia installation poses the question: Is there still space for wonderment in nature amidst our current catastrophic ecological change? Make Hay While the Sun Shines uses the idea of the trace, the residue of objects—in addition to time-based works—to examine complex tensions of biophilia, awe, and loss as we enter together into an unknown future.

About the artist: Eileen Roscina Richardson is an artist, chef and naturalist from Denver, Colorado who works in a wide variety of mediums. Eileen is an experimental filmmaker with a BFA from Emerson College in Boston, MA  a botanical illustrator, trained at the School of Botanical Art and Illustration in Denver, CO, and a Natural Food Chef, trained at Nutritional Therapy Institute. Through biomimicry and the study of biophilia, her work examines and seeks to raise questions about human’s spiritual and social (dis)connection with nature.
