Melody Epperson - Dust to Apples Community Project Grant

Farmer Claudia - Judy Dogherty

What: Grant funded project
Where: Adams County Farms
When: September 13 - December 4, 2024

About the grant: Adams County Art and Culture Announces Grant Awarded to RedLine REACH Core Alumni Melody Epperson for "Dust to Apples" Community Land Art Project.

Adams County Art and Culture is thrilled to announce that local artist Melody Epperson has been awarded a prestigious grant to develop her innovative land-based art project, "Dust to Apples." This community-centered project seeks to transform the natural elements of the Colorado Plains into striking works of art that celebrate the region's agricultural heritage.

Rooted deeply in her own family history, Epperson's project draws inspiration from the experiences of her great-grandparents, who were Colorado Homesteaders and farmers. By engaging with local landowners and exploring the rich history of the land, she will create a unique artistic narrative that reflects the essence of "working the land" on the Colorado Plains.

About the artist: Born and raised in Colorado, Melody has spent her life in the arts. She studied ceramics and printmaking in college and received her BFA from Metropolitan State College in Communication Design. Currently, Melody shows her artwork at D’Art Gallery in Denver Co. From 2021-2023 she served as President of the Women’s Caucus for Art Colorado and currently sits on the board of ArtSource Colorado. After a successful career of teaching elementary art and music in Jefferson County, Melody set her sights on being a full-time artist.
