Evans School Exodus: Artists Reflect on the Closing Chapter of RedLine’s Satellite Studio

Southwest Contemporary covered a challenging moment for Denver’s creative community in their recent story on the closing of our Evans School Satellite Studio location.

Once a haven for nearly 60 artists through RedLine’s Satellite Studio initiative, this historic 1904 schoolhouse is now set to undergo redevelopment, marking the end of a unique era for the city’s arts scene.

Southwest Contemporary’s coverage captured the energy and vibrancy within Evan Schools’ iconic red-bricked walls.

Artists, nonprofits, and collectives had transformed the building into more than just a studio space—it was a hub of collaboration, creativity, and cultural exchange.

From open studios and art markets to fashion shows and performance art, the school was a rare gem in Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District.
