RedLine and Lighthouse Writers Workshop will be hosting a monthly book club between June and August of 2021 that will focus on our annual theme of Afrofuturism + Beyond. The goal is to create a space to deepen our communal knowledge around afrofuturist themes through engaged discussion. Additionally, this book club will allow for sustained dialogue in anticipation of our 48 Hours of Socially Engaged Art and Conversation Summit.
The content covered in the group will include fiction novels, graphic novels, articles, and films.
You can register monthly for each of the upcoming sessions. These will be held virtually with the hope of the final meeting taking place in-person during the 48 Hours Summit. The conversations will be prompted and led by a variety of creative individuals who are passionate practitioners of Afrofuturism.
This month, we will be reading Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower.
Find it through Denver Public Library. The library also offers digital and audio versions of the book.
