About Moderator Charity Von Guinness
Born and raised in 80's New York, Charity spent her early years between the political abstraction of the streets and the hallowed halls of museums. After graduating from New York University with a degree in Art History, she spent the last two decades of her career dedicated to expanding access and dialogue to the arts. As a lover of graffiti, mark making and the fine arts, she wants to bridge connections and open conversations to the importance of incorporating street art's past | present | future to move our urban environments forward and offer more entry points to the art world.
In 2018 she was appointed Director and National Development Advisor at ProjectArt, a nonprofit committed to arts education for all through partnerships with Public Libraries. During her tenure, she implemented a 2-generational approach to engaging families in the creative process, growing attendance and working with unhoused teenagers to provide crucial access to new forms of self-expression and the arts. She was named Miami Art Leader 2018 by the Miami Foundation for her significant work in improving arts access in the city.
Charity was appointed Executive Director of RiNo Art District in August of 2022 after serving as Director of Development at Locust Projects, a free alternative art space in Miami, FL. She is thrilled to be able to continue her work to provide vital support and resources to empower artists and increase awareness, funding and access to the arts in Denver.
About Making Our Mark: An Exploration of Vandal Futurism
Making Our Mark honors and acknowledges that for many artists, street art, murals, and graffiti art functions as their first exposure to the fine arts.
Though the genre emerged and is experienced beyond the confines of museums, institutions and galleries, street art continues to claim a space that is accessible and inspiring to all.
On display September 23-November 3, 2023.
About DENVER WALLS
DENVER WALLS seeks to create an annual event that brings high-impact art to the Denver community.
We want to build a program that puts our city on the map as the next major Art Mecca of the United States and eventually of the world. We aim to take a future-thinking approach to street art, bridging the gap between art and technology while supporting, uplifting, and educating our local community.
DENVER WALLS 2023 will be woman and immigrant-owned with local artist Ally Grimm (A.L. Grime) spearheading the project. She aims to bring her passion for arts, technology, and equality to the project to reimagine the possibilities for Street Art in our city.
