Beyond the Horizon Curatorial Statement
Curated by current RedLine Resident Artists Rochelle Johnson and Taiko Chandler
Beyond the Horizon takes into consideration the past two years of a pandemic that profoundly impacted the world. Every artist in this group continued to move forward during these uncertain times. The artworks created by the Reach Core Artists speak to perseverance that is necessary when chaos becomes reality and the world simultaneously moves into the future.
The Core Artists came up with words that expressed what moving beyond current times would look like. These personal narratives touch on themes of growth, sustainability, and mending the past. A recurring subject touches on spirituality and healing. Both play a large part in how humans step into the present and are able to exist in the future without disregard.
There are elements of hope within each piece reinforcing the idea that the human spirit continues to evolve. The future gives voice to the past and present, but captures a more conclusive feel that resonates with all who choose to move past ambiguous times.
RedLine would like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors of Reach Studio: Bank of America, The Raphael Levy Memorial Foundation, Inc, and the Sidney E. Frank Foundation - Colorado Fund.
