Spring 2020 Youth Art Exhibiton

Whittier and Bruce Randolph Schools

2019-2020

ArtCorps Mentoring uses one-on-one mentoring to provide a safe environment for students to explore the arts while creating connections with a trusted adult figure. Selected middle school students at Whittier and Bruce Randolph schools have the opportunity to work with a professional artist mentor for a year.

During the first semester, students and mentors complete different process based activities each week. In the second semester, students create socially engaged art projects for their exhibition. The program gives students a practical way to approach issues with the inquiring mind of an artist and often students and mentors work together for multiple years.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, students were unable to finish their projects and showcase them in an exhibition. This zine highlights some of their process work from throughout the year, as well as some pieces from mentors. Parts 1 and 2 of the zine are displayed below.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our dedicated artist mentors, schools staff, and sponsors, as well as the amazing students that make this program so special. We cannot wait until they can continue their projects!

Thank you to The Hemera Foundation, Harvey Family Foundation, Colorado Health Foundation, SCFD, Doug and Whitney Moehle, Guiry’s Color Source, & Sexy Pizza for their generous support.
