Our assignment was to create a piece of artwork about a social justice issue that provoked and evoked emotions out of people. We looked at visual references from other artists about what topics are currently being talked about. The issue I chose to do was about climate change. My goal with my project is to show people we still have a choice to fix our planet and not have it go up in flames.

I chose this topic because it is very pressing that we do something about it before our planet dies. Climate change means a lot to me because I don’t want winter to happen in March anymore. I used a door to symbolize choice because to me having an option is one of the most important things.

In the beginning, I had the idea of doing a card where one side had a girl who was surrounded by flowers and the other side she had a gas mask on and all the plant life was dead. I conveyed my message by having a door labeled “Future” and on one side it's all pretty and green but on the other side is all in flames and the sky is just smoke.
